Dr. María J. Vicent received her Ph.D. in 2001 in chemistry at Univ JaumeI (Spain) after several scientific stays in Prof. Fréchet’s lab. at the Univ California (Berkeley, USA). María then moved into more biomedically-oriented research, initially with the Spanish company Instituto Biomar, and subsequently at Prof. Duncan lab. (Cardiff UK) as a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow. Since 2006 she is head of the Polymer Therapeutics Lab at CIPF (Valencia, Spain), coordinates the Advanced Therapies area and the ERIC EU-OpenScreen specialist site. María has been funded by both national and European grants (including ERCCo grant-MyNano and ERCPoC-POLYMMUNE, Fund Health La Caixa-NanoPanTher). María has received several prizes, and is an AIMBE Fellow. She has co-authored >115 peer-reviewed papers and 10 patents. Three patents have been licensed to the pharmaceutical industry and a third used as the foundation of the company PTS (Valencia, Spain) in 2012. María was President of the SPLC-CRS and the chairperson in key conferences, such as the International Symposium on Polymer Therapeutics or the 2019 CRS meeting. María is also the executive editor of ADDR, associate editor of DDTR, and a member of the editorial boards of key journal in the field.
